Should I major in computer science or specifically in video games?

science games

At the moment, I’m thinking about getting into the video game industry…but I’m not positive at this point and I’m wondering if it would be better to major in computer science for a more general and wider range of options…what do you think?

I love science, but I’m bad at math. What should I do? (college major)?

kids science games

Since I was a youngster, I had always had a love for science. I suppose it all started when my father checked out book on astronomy from the county library in Merrillville Indiana. I read that book from cover to cover and decided that was for me.

Unfortunately, I am not what would be called a model student. Underachiever is probably a better term to describe me. During the critical years of high school, when I should have been building my math skills, I completely wasted my time playing video games and hanging out with friends and partying. Now I am paying for it.

As a college student, I seldom have problems in classes that don’t involve any math such as history or English. I usually get an A in those classes. I do not wish to sound like I’m gloating, but for example: I can wake up at 5am, write a 5-8 page paper from scratch, and turn it in by 11am and still receive an A. I have had many teachers and professors tell me I have decent writing skills and that I should pursue a writing profession.

While this may be true, it is not something that I see myself spending my life doing. Writing may come naturally to me, but it isn’t anything I am passionate about. What I find fascinating and what I truly love is science.

But in math based classes, especially general chemistry, I find myself staring blankly at a question for hours at a time trying to figure it out. I suppose I can blame myself for not buckling down in my high school math classes.

I have a full time job so I’m not really worried about trying to graduate within a certain time frame. But I just would like to hear some outside opinins about what I should do in this situation. I’m 25 years old and sometimes I find it humiliating to be sitting in the same classroom with 18 year old kids fresh out of high school, easily outdoing me in chemistry class.

Should I drive on and strive for my goal? Or should I throw in the towel and go with something I know I can do, but don’t really care too much for?

Thanks.

What should I do with my life (college question)?

science games for kids

I am 20, and I have my GED. I am really good with computers, but easily frustrated when problems arise that I cannot fix. I’m better with hardware than I am with software. I still looove video games like the little kid I still am, haha. I have an incredible fascination with all things Science. I am very shy when around groups of people, so I wouldn’t be a good teacher. I would love to incorporate my love for Science with the future needs of computers. What kinds of things might I be good at, or might I be able to look into giving these details? Any help is going to go a long way, thanks a bunch! God bless :]
Might I add I am not very good at math. It’s not something that has ever clicked for me.
